This course introduces students, new to Aptos High School, to the major elements of theatre arts, including basic acting techniques and theatre games, the history and structure of drama, and an overview of the technical aspects of theatre. Students will improve their abilities in speech and communications, team work, self-expression, and creativity, all in a non-threatening environment. Assignments range from scene work to puppet making, observations of professional actors to writing and performing original dramatic pieces based on students' own experiences. Optional performance opportunity in Spring Actor's Showcase. Class participation is mandatory. $10.00 material fee is requested.
