Course Description

  • Spanish Language AP
    Grade Level: 9-12

AP Spanish Language prepares students for the AP Spanish Language Examination, and all students entering the course will be expected to take the AP exam; any student who does not take the AP Exam will have their grade reduced (an "A" becomes a "B", etc.) Students refine, perfect, and enhance their speaking, writing, reading, and understanding of Spanish, so it is assumed that they have already learned these skills. The course requires students to do compositions, oral exercises, read prose and poetry, study grammar and syntax, perform listening comprehension exercises, practice conversation, and expand vocabulary. The course will broaden students' understanding of Hispanic culture and foster interest in continuing the study of Spanish in college. Students must apply for the course. This course is equivalent to a fourth or fifth semester college course in Advanced Spanish.
