· AMERICAN LITERATURE Honors (Year) Grade Level: 11-12 Prerequisite: A 3.5 GPA in Accelerated Eng. 2 or a 4.0 in regular Eng. 3-4 plus a positive recommendation from your latest semester's English teacher. This average will be based on the grades for the first three quarters. A contract, signed by the student, a parent, and the previous English teacher must be submitted to an American Literature Honors teacher prior to registration. Scholars of literature will enjoy meeting some of the great characters and authors of literature from the 1600's to the present. A pre-AP format offers students strategies for literary analysis, advanced essay writing, in-class timed essays, and original research.
