· AMERICAN LITERATURE (SDAIE*) (Year) Grade Level: 11-12 Prerequisite: Limited or fluent English Proficiency; approval of English 2 SDAIE teacher or Language Resource teacher. This class examines the developing culture of America from 1607 to the present as seen through our literature. The literature of the different times tells what people were like, how they thought, and what they hoped for. A wide range of American authors and genres will be studied. Sheltered English methodologies will be used. Reading and writing skills and vocabulary development will be emphasized.
