· COLLEGE ENGLISH AP (Year) Grade Level: 12 Prerequisite: 3.5 GPA previous 3 years English, teacher recommendation, Contract between AP English and previous English teacher prior to enrollment. This course will begin with an intensive study of Ellison's Invisible Man as students learn how to write free-response, prose, and poetry analyses. Other works include the following plays: Oedipus Rex, Lysistrata, Hamlet, Othello, Amadeus, and Hedda Gabler; and such novels as Heart of Darkenss, Grendel, and Monsignor Quixote. Students will study poetry extensively, both as a genre and as a thematic complement to the plays and novels. Students will take the AP Examination in the spring.
