· ENGLISH 2 (Year) Prerequisite: Completion of English 1-2 with a passing grade. Sophomore English continues the direction given in English 1-2 with greater demand and emphasis on all skills related to literacy. Short stories, novels, essays, drama, and poetry are all further investigated, experienced and written about. Some of the Core Works studied are the novels Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck and A Separate Peace by John Knowles; the Shakespearean classic, Julius Caesar. Students will be given the opportunity to develop a greater awareness of classical and modern literature, and the uses and techniques of written language
