· JOURNALISM Advanced (Year) Grade Level: 11-12 Prerequisite: 'A' or 'B' in English 2 or teacher recommendation. A Journalism Staff Application must be returned to the Journalism teacher prior to registration. This course is both an academic and a practical "hands-on" learning experience. Students learn and practice the skills of putting together a school newspaper and writing news stories, feature stories, editorials, sports, reviews, and columns. Also covered are how to use the word processor, elements of good layout design and business management. Students may be REQUIRED to read and report on two journalistic books per semester and publish a neat, professional-looking school newspaper on a regular basis.
