Grade Point Average & Rank
Grading & Rank Weighted four-point system grade point average:
- A = 4
- B = 3
- C = 2
- D = 1
- F = 0
Academic GPA includes courses in Grades 9-12, except PE, Teacher and Office Assistants.
One extra point is given for AP/Honors courses with a grade of C- or higher. (Example: An "A" grade earned in AP Biology equals 5 points towards the GPA calculation.)
Grades earned with "+" or "-" do not change the point value for a grade. (Example: A student who earns a "B+" or a "B-" has earned 3 points towards their GPA calculation.
Aptos High School does not rank students.
The transcript shows both weighted and unweighted GPAs and an unofficial A-G 10-11 grade GPA. When applying to colleges and universities, students will usually be required to enter courses and grades to re-calculate a GPA.
